Artist Space Available!

The Art Salon is a fun and funky art gallery, art studios and art gift shop. We have a beautiful store front facing City Park and York Street. Our downstairs art studio (approximately 900 square ft) is coming available for rent in November. We are looking for an artist/creative that wants to work in a high energy-creative and collaborative environment. Artist and creative types like fashion designers, painters, photographers, collagists etc, but basically "clean" artists are all welcome to apply. (ie. no metal workers or wood workers being that we have no way to filter the air in the basement.)

Being in the Art Salon studios means that you will have access to show in the upstairs gallery, use classroom space, wifi, and website for exposure. You automatically become a member of the Art Salon and have the possibility of teaching out of the space as well. This space is an ideal spot for a serious artist that is looking to expand their business and move out of their house or garage and take their artistic career to the next step.

900sq ft- $550/month with one month's rent deposit. Utilities Included. One year lease. No pets please because we already we have 2 shop dogs that are here most days.
Credit Check

For more info on the Art Salon goto www.artsalondenver.com
or respond by email to Jennifer for questions and to set up a time to see the space. (I am working on getting photos. but we are roughly at 21st and York)

Looking forward to seeing you!
Cheers

Design Studio is MOVING!

I am so excited to announce that I am moving my business out of my apartment and becoming a member of the Guildwerks Artists Collective Warehouse!  This is an incredible space that will facilitate larger classes, but also puts me in a wonderful workspace with lots of amazing creatives!

I have an old history with the property itself, which is located on York Street between 38th and 40th Avenues.  Many years ago I was part of a CoHousing group called August Green that was offered the York Street property by the City of Denver for $1.  We toured this property many times and spent over a year developing a plan to create a community of creatives at this site.  In the end, we could not pull it off due to the $1 million in abatement required because this was a Superfund site that had never been cleaned up.  But, here we are 15 years later and I'm going to be doing exactly what I set out to in the very same location!  It's a thrilling day for me!  I love synchronicity!

So thanks to Jim Barter and Lynn Strutton for having such a great vision and working toward creating such great community space!

I should be completely moved over into the new space by end of next week!

Sewing Machine for Sale!

One of my students is having a life change issue and needs to sell her sewing machine.  It's a Janome machine that is less than 2 years old.  I know she has not used it a whole lot and I think it came with a full set of specialty feet (she's checking on that now).  She paid $500 for it about 1-1/2 years ago and would like to get $400 for it.  If you are interested, please email me at: info@aprilenchanted.com

Lovely corset fabrics!

Here are two fabrics that are being readied for the cutting table.  Corsets!  Email if you would like one of these made for your size!

An exciting move!

The Aprilenchanted Design Studio is getting ready to become a part of something bigger than itself and meld with the minds and talents of numerous amazing people!  Stay tuned for details on the move and the incredible opportunities this move will facilitate!  That's all I'm saying for now until details are final and stuff is moved into the space!

But, I'm so excited!!!!!

More Fabrics!

Here are some more fabrics currently available in the Aprilenchanted Design Studio!  Both of these are 100% cotton print in Dia de los Muertos Celebration and a more french skull theme, suitable for cute summer skirts or dresses....even a lightly boned corset top!  These are hard to find fabrics and will go quickly.  I would love to customize something pretty for you!

Darlings! Corsetmaking Class!

Hello one and all!

Just a little reminder that I have a Corsetmaking Class scheduled to start this Saturday.  This is a 4 week class that provides you with the entire kit for making a proper corset and teaches you how to properly fit, shape and sew your corset together.  Pre-registration is required and seats are limited, so register now!

Hand dyed silks!

Here are some lovely hand dyed silks I have available that are prewashed and ready to be cut into some summery flowing garment just for you!  I have 8 yards each of these two fabrics, so it would be possible to create a bias cut dress or a full circle skirt out of either of them.  Possibly even a pair of wings or bellydance veils.  To your liking!

June 9, 1010
To my dear fans and friends in Colorado
I’m very sad to have to let you know that I’m unable to perform at this weekend’s Midsummer Fairy Ball. Unfortunately there was a problem with my visa when I tried to enter America last Thursday, and I was returned home to Australia on the next flight in order to sort it out. You can imagine how devastated I was!
I can assure you, as soon as the visa is sorted out, I’ll be on flying right back! In the mean time, I encourage those of you who have bought tickets to this weekend’s Fairy Ball to go along and have a wonderful time. There will be great music from the pagan rock group Heartbeat, as well as vendors and other surprises. Those of you who keep your tickets will be able to use them for my own show when I return in August. (the date is yet TBC). Of course, if you’d prefer a refund, you are entitled to that and April Hoy, the event producer, will be able to help you out. But I really encourage you to participate. You’ll get two shows for the price of one!

Those of you who have purchased tickets to my scheduled workshop on Sunday may like to hold on to them for my return. I’ll have dates sorted out ASAP. Of course, though, you are entitled to a refund.

Here is my review!

This was the most amazing dining experience I've had in about 10 years. Amazing service....and there are just no words for how amazing the food and drinks were. Everything so fresh and rich with flavor.

We started with a ... glass of red wine...a barbera, which I had never had before. The waiter described it as earthy and poured a little for us to try to see if we liked it. It was not a typical red. When he said earthy, he meant it. It had an underlying flavor of peat moss...which I know sounds terrible, but is quite good. One of my favorite single malt scotches also has this unique flavor in the background.

To start, I had a lovely fresh Caesar salad that was crunchy and delicious with just the right amount of flavors mixed together....and only one little sad anchovie sitting atop the salad, which I picked off the plate.

For dinner I decided on the eggplant parmigiana, which was bursting with fresh basil and fennel! This is one of my favorite dishes but not all restaurants get the cooking of this right, so sometimes I'm disappointed. In this case though, it was Sooooo goood!

Our waiter made us a special drink to finish our dinner before our dessert. It had in it blackberries, fresh basil, honey liqueur, vodka and ginger beer! I cannot describe how wonderful this was!

For dessert our waiter recommended and we shared the butterscotch bread pudding for dessert which was actually very light in the middle and crispy on the outside....not your average bread pudding. With the butterscotch drizzle and vanilla bean gelato, it was outstanding.

Our waiter was excellent in providing great recommendations, and in his amazing attention to service. He did not hover over our table, but allowed us time to enjoy what we were experiencing. Yet he showed up at just the right moments and added personal touches to our service. It was such a wonderful evening that Jessica and I left there feeling drunk on love! Truly enchanting and I hope you all get to eat there sometime. It's downtown on Larimer Street between 14th and 15th.

Changes for Aprilenchanted Design Studio

In the shifting changes of today's world, I have decided that sewing classes will be thinned out this year in order to focus on more designing and creating. If you want a sewing class, I will be offering them through the early summer 2010 and then likely only once a year after that, if at all.  Private sewing sessions may continue at the rate of $25 per hour.

Community support for such classes has been falling off over the last year...though I still get many requests for these classes, registration numbers just don't match up to the requests. I have been offering sewing classes since 2004 at highly competitive rates, but everyone seems to be struggling with the economy and can't support this effort. I even offered the idea of a membership based, low cost sewing program but no one expressed any interest. And so, it seems the Universe is saying....time for other endeavors!

Having said that, I will be putting forth my efforts towards my own designs and creations and my Etsy selling. I look forward to serving you in that capacity.

May you all be blessed in your creative endeavors!

Denver Sewing Club coming soon!

Greetings and Alo'ha!

Many of you interested in my sewing classes have asked for shorter classes and lower cost classes. For the past year, I have been wracking my brain on how to do this in a way that supports my business as well as the students that come to me. It has been my desire to provide high quality education in the field of sewing technology while also designing and creating for my clients. During this last trip to California I had an idea come to mind and I have been working on a plan that I would like to present to you. Using the Health Club membership model, I think this could actually work. However, it will need a lot of community support...as in lots of members and people actually attending the classes. So, here is the idea I have come up with and I am currently seeking space to share in order to facilitate this venture. I would love your input and, if you are in the Denver Metro area and likely to take part in this, I would love to hear from you.
